Hey. It's time to take a break from all the 9/11 memorial journals out there, to tell you an important message.

This November, there is an absolutely critical election.(1) Right now, the polls are statistically tied, dead even. In fact, currently McCain has a slight edge.(2) Palin has enthusiastically energized the Republican base. There will be a high turnout rate among the Republicans. Even though Democrats outnumber Republicans by at least 11 million (and more every day), they are no longer as enthusiastic as the GOP. Furthermore, there's voter purges going on as a result of the Help America Vote Act (HAVA), which was passed by a GOP-controlled House and Senate. This could eliminate millions of people from voter roles, and may counteract the surge of newly registered voters.

This means it is absolutely urgent, if you are over 18 and a US citizen, that you register to vote. And then you get out and vote. Do it. I'm not kidding, this time it willmake a difference. The course of history depends on the result of this election.

  1. a) Apart from everything going on with the economy, the next President will almost certainly appoint two or more judges to a Supreme Court that is currently slanted towards Conservatives. Those appointees serve for life- the President will determine the makeup of the Supreme Court for the next thirty years. b) McCain and Palin are pro-life. In fact, Palin is so anti-choice, she opposes abortion even in cases of rape and incest. c) The Supreme Court is in a position to overturn Roe v. Wade, and several states have conditional anti-abortion laws which will take effect immediately upon the overturning of Roe v. Wade. There are groups ready to bring lawsuits challenging Roe v. Wade to the Supreme Court as soon as its political makeup changes. d) The GOP platform supports amending the Constitution to extend 14th Amendment protection to the unborn. This would, in affect, make abortion illegal on a national level. I don't think I need to say more on this issue. And I won't more than mention in passing the bellicose nature of McCain.
